Job Title: Project Lead  – Joint Reactor Team / System Integration Group - Submarines

Working Pattern: Full time

Working location: Barrow-in-Furness / Hybrid (3 Days in office per week at BAES site in Barrow)

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Project Controller to support the Joint Reactor Team and Power and Propulsion System Integration Team on-site at BAE-Systems. You’ll be joining a fast-paced team running enablement of key events and challenged with turbo charging risk mitigation opportunities to ensure programme demands are met. Barrow in Furness is a town in Cumbria, in the North-West England at the tip of the Furness peninsula, close to the Lake District.

The role is based at the BAE Systems site in Barrow in Furness, with a team of engineers and project professionals from partner organisations. The role works daily with BAE Systems and MoD staff to deliver the Dreadnought class power and propulsion build and commissioning programme.

What you will be doing

  • Developing and implementing enablement strategies for Test & Commissioning Key Events
  • Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure good quality enablement data is collated, presented and actions appropriately progressed with action plans in place.
  • Risk management through raising key risks to programme and developing and managing risk mitigation plans.
  • Developing and managing risk and opportunity projects to ensure programme demands are met.
  • Issue identification and resolution management across wide ranges of stakeholders and business partners.
  • Interfacing and reporting of the enablement programme status both internally and externally to all levels.
  • Business data and schedule interrogation, metric and slide pack creation and presentation to senior management.
  • Interfacing with Rolls-Royce, MoD, Operations, Test & Commissioning and Planning to ensure schedule adherence.

  • Strong network across submarines enterprise and ability to communicate and influence at all levels.
  • Working knowledge of reactor and secondary systems and understanding of the key stages of submarine test and commissioning including – Test Path knowledge, Test Procedures, Test Equipment Diagrams, Key Event requirements.
  • Experience of Risk & Opportunity management and realisation of project benefits.
  • Good understanding of the role of data management systems in managing organisational data and information and an in-depth understanding of various data sets including – Teamcenter, SAP, BoM and Engineering Maturity, Engineering Change.
